Jazz Hands II
26” x 32”
For years my husband and I would attend the Saratoga Jazz Festival. If you paid enough you could get 'pit' tickets which enabled concert goers to photograph the performers. Several years we were lucky enough to do that and I was able to collect a vast amount of photo reference for future paintings. This oil was from a photo reference I took of Chris Botti. My intent with painting, just the hands and part of the instrument, was to enable you to use your imagination and perhaps "hear " the music playing. This is the second in a series of nine paintings I did in my Jazz Hands series. Painting hands is a challenge as well as the intricacy of some of the instruments.
