Suzi Zefting-Kuhn

Suzi Zefting-Kuhn is a self-taught artist who has honed her craft under multiple mentors. Suzi studied watercolor for years on and off with local artist Wendy Gwirtzman, then studied with Sari Gaby to learn portraiture in both oil and pastel. Being a people person, Suzi is drawn to faces, especially the eyes. She has had the opportunity to study with nationally acclaimed artists like Steven Assael, Jeff Hein, Michelle Dunaway, Susan Lyon, Robert Liberace, David Kassan, and Elizabeth Robbins. In 2014 Suzi had the opportunity to study with Burton Silverman in his NYC studio for five days. It was the highlight of her artistic career.

Suzi is past President of the Rochester Art Club. Suzi helped found the Pastel Society of Western New York with Robin McCondichie. She is affiliated with the Portrait Society of America, Pastel Society of America, the Adirondack Pastel Society and the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society. She is founder of the Main Street Artists Gallery and Studio.

Suzi’s work is realistic and she strives to get a likeness. Through her work she hopes to showcase the essence of the subject she is painting. Her media of choice are oils and pastel but she also dabbles in watercolor.

“I am forever a student, and my art is forever in the state of becoming,” are meaningful words form her painting idol, Burton Silverman.
