Gabriele Lodder
Gabriele Lodder was born in the Bavaria region of Germany, emigrated to the U.S. at age 12, and presently resides in Webster, NY.
Gabriele is a self-taught artist, seriously venturing into painting later in life. She loves to travel and enjoys the outdoors, with many of her painting subjects reflecting those interests. She began with watercolor, continued on to oil, and then moved on to her favorite medium, pastels. Gabriele honed her skills by taking workshops with internationally and locally known artists to build confidence and refine her work. She enjoys challenging herself with complex subjects, which she feels improves her art. Her work has been juried into numerous exhibitions and received awards accordingly.
Gabriele thinks that there are certain mediums that make a painting come to life. “The artist’s choice of medium,” she says, “makes a painting speak—whether it is the ruggedness of a mountain or the delicate beauty of a flower. The true joy of painting is when you share that work with others.”
Gabrielle is a member of the Main Street Artists and Gallery where she maintains a studio. She is a past president of the Penfield Art Association, a signature member of the Rochester Art Club, and a member of the Pastel Society of Western New York.
