Chris Manseri

Chris Manaseri was an early student of art who became a public school teacher, counselor, and administrator at the K-12 and college level, returning to art only in retirement. He studied plein air painting with Mark Brown and lost wax bronze sculpture with Jack Lau while living in Hawaii. Returning to New York in 2016, he has since actively pursued art full-time. He is a signature member of the Rochester Art Club. Chris is a founding member of Pittford Fine Art and the artist with the vision to start the gallery.

Chris paints and sculpts largely representational pieces, paying close attention to details of both natural and constructed elements in the environment and to the human form. He enjoys studio watercolor work and plein air oil painting. His influences include Andrew and Jamie Wyeth, Rockwell Kent, and Edward Hopper, each noted for their realism, but also for the manner in which they place the individuals in juxtaposition to their surroundings.

Andrew Wyeth said, “One’s art goes as far and as deep as one’s love goes.” For Manaseri, there is no point in superficiality in either. He practices painting and sculpture with passion and continues to learn as he experiments with different media and subject matter. His goal in his ‘second act’ is to make art in retirement for as many years as he worked in public education.
